About Us
The Maltatal is located in the southernmost province of Austria, Carinthia, between the National Park HOHE TAUERN and the Biosphere Park NOCKBERGE.
With heart and nature – that's Camping Maltatal
Nestled in the beautiful mountains of Carinthia, our campsite in the Maltatal is located at 800 meters above sea level—a place to breathe deeply, relax, and enjoy yourself. Covering an area of 4 hectares, you will find around 220 spacious pitches (80–110 m²), laid out in terraces and all equipped with electricity connections. Most pitches also have direct water and sewage connections.
The site is surrounded by shady trees and well-tended hedges, creating privacy and a natural atmosphere. Two modern sanitary buildings ensure maximum comfort, and a practical supply and disposal station is available for our motorhome guests.

Our history
The history of today's Terrassencamping Maltatal begins with grandfather Alfred, a true visionary who wanted to create a special place in the beautiful Maltatal valley where nature, relaxation, and enjoyment come together. This is how the family business came into being: a coffee house and restaurant with a campground and its own golf course, which has twelve holes and a small sanitary building. A few years later, the youngest daughter Erika and Herbert Pirker took over the business. They removed the golf course and concentrated on the campsite, which was henceforth renamed Terrassencamping Maltatal. In 1999, her son Andreas took over the management. With fresh ideas and a great deal of commitment, he continued to develop the site—always with the aim of preserving its family-friendly hospitality and proximity to nature. Today, Terrassencamping Maltatal welcomes guests from all over the world—a place that has grown with passion over generations.
